Put a folder back into SharePoint

To get a folder or file back into SharePoint or Google Drive, open its ··· menu and choose Put back. Shed copies it to the place it came from, checks every file by its fingerprint as it lands, and takes away the note it left behind. Your shed keeps its own copy, so nothing is lost either way. You need Put back level or above.

What happens

  1. Shed copies the folder or file back to the exact place it came from in the cloud.
  2. It checks what landed against what it holds, file by file, by fingerprint.
  3. It removes the note it left where the folder used to be.
  4. Your shed keeps its copy. The returned files now live in both places.

If anything fails the check, Shed says so in the job report and leaves your shed copy alone.

Stopping Sweep taking it straight back

A folder you have just put back would match the same rules that moved it out, so the dialog asks how long Sweep should leave it alone: 30 days, 90 days, a year, or until an admin says. Ninety days is the usual choice. An Admin can lift or extend that in Settings, then Sweep settings.

What you can put back

Anything Shed swept out of a cloud, as long as Shed still has the record of where it came from. Something uploaded straight into the shed has no cloud place to go back to, so Put back is not offered. If the same file is held for two clouds, you can choose which one it goes to, or send it to both.

Who can do it

Put back level or above. See Invite someone and choose what they can do. Every put back is recorded in Activity with who asked for it.
