Jump straight to a folder or file

To jump to a folder or file without browsing to it, press ⌘K (Ctrl+K on Windows) anywhere in the shed and start typing. Results appear as you type, and Enter opens the one you have highlighted.

To narrow what it finds

A few words with a colon narrow the search, and you can use more than one at a time:

Type thisTo find
in:Campaigns/2019only inside that folder. Quote it when it has spaces: in:"Big Shoot"
type:pdfa kind of file: pdf, images, video, audio, documents, spreadsheets, archives or folders. Any extension works too, such as type:mov
changed:2024changed that year. changed:2024-03 is that month, changed:2024-03-05 that day
#campaignanything tagged campaign

Anything the box doesn't recognise is treated as words to search for, so "brief in:Campaigns type:pdf" finds PDFs in Campaigns with "brief" in them.

Your recent searches

The palette offers your last few searches so you can go back to one without typing it again. They are your own: nobody else sees them, and clearing yours does nothing to anyone else's.

Three things bound the list. Nothing older than 30 days appears, no more than five are shown, and Clear, beside the Recent searches heading, empties it.

Clearing is a convenience, not a cover. It hides those searches from your own list and changes nothing in Activity, which stays the record of what was searched and when. If you want something gone from the record, that is a different question and the answer is in your agreement, not in this button.

What it searches

The same things the search page does: names, the folders files sit in, and the words inside documents. It only ever shows what you can open. For filters by date, size or person, use the search page: see Find a file, or words inside one.
