To find a file, type in the search box on Files and press Find. Shed looks at names, at the folders files sit in, and at the words inside PDFs, documents, presentations and spreadsheets. It reads new files overnight, so something added today turns up by its name straight away and by what it says from tomorrow.
Search for a phrase you remember from it. You don't need the file's name. Shed cannot read words in a picture, so a scanned page with no text in it, or a photo of a page, is found by its name only. So is any document over 200 MB.
Type what you remember. A small typo still finds the file: "campain" finds "Campaign". For a pattern, use * for any run of characters and ? for exactly one. *.pdf finds every PDF, and Brief_v? finds Brief_v1 to Brief_v9.
Files opens on two doors rather than a list: what came from your cloud, and your cold store, each with how much it holds and how many files. Open either and you are in the folders. Search covers both wherever you start from.
Open the folder first, then search. Shed looks only in that folder and the folders inside it, and the line under the heading says where it looked.
Use the filters beside the search box:
If your company uses job numbers, the Tag filter lists them too: see Find files by job number.
Once results are showing, type in named to narrow them by name without searching again. Click Name, Size or Last changed to sort.
Try a shorter word, a pattern, or fewer filters. If it still isn't there, it is in one of two places. It may be in a folder you have not been given, because search only shows what you can open: ask whoever runs your shed. Or it has not come to the shed yet and is still in SharePoint or Google Drive: see Change what moves into the shed.
Tell us which libraries or drives are full and roughly how large they are. We size a shed, set up the first sweep with you, and most are running within a week.
