Gather files with tags

To gather work that is scattered across folders, tag it. A tag hangs on the file itself, so it follows the file when it moves or is renamed, and one tag collects things from anywhere in the shed.

To tag something

Tick one or more files or folders and choose Tag…, or use Tag… in a row's ··· menu. Type the name of an existing tag, or type a new name to make one. Tagging needs Download level or above.

To find everything with a tag

Click the tag anywhere you see it, or use the Tag filter on the search page. In the ⌘K box, type #campaign. See Jump straight to a folder or file.

What a tag follows

A tag stays with a file through a move or a rename done in Shed. If the same file is held in two clouds, each place keeps its own tags, because they are two places in the shed.

Tags and job numbers

A job number is not a tag you make up: it comes from a system your company has connected, and it is put on a folder rather than a file. See Find files by job number.

To tidy the tags up

Admins can rename, recolour, merge and delete tags on the Tags page, reached by Manage tags in the tag dialog or beside the search filters. A tag's name can be up to 40 characters, and there are eight colours. Merging moves everything onto the tag you keep. Every tag change is recorded in Activity.
